About HCCA
Since 1977, High Country Citizens' Alliance has been at work protecting the extraordinary natural areas of the Upper Gunnison River Basin. Conservation is at the root of all we do. Facing challenges large and small, we believe that integrity and cooperation are our best tools. This approach has enabled us to resolve many difficult issues over the years. Today, our programs range from preservation of our national forests, rangelands and water resources to land use planning and fostering sustainable communities.
As our area's population grows, our solutions to challenges must reflect and respond to ever-increasing pressures. High Country Citizens' Alliance uses innovative and collaborative approaches to provide educated input for protecting public lands, water and our communities.
Working within the legal parameters of local, state and federal governments, we are the foremost advocacy-based conservation organization in the Gunnison Valley. We stimulate conversation about issues facing our environment, educating and encouraging public involvement in protecting the areas we care about. Forming alliances with diverse groups has produced results, which benefit not only our natural surroundings, but also the people who live and visit here.
